Seville & the New World

Travel back to the time when Seville was the “port and gateway to the Indies”

“Those who haven’t seen Seville haven’t seen a marvel,” they used to say in the 16th century.

Why take this tour?

Why take this tour with me?

Because you’ll be accompanied by a guide who specializes in the history of the Americas and navigation. You’ll learn far more than just the standard explanations, debunk common myths, and enjoy a much more comprehensive experience.

Unlike large group tours, you’ll have a professional guide all to yourself. It will be a more personalized tour, and you’ll be able to ask as many questions as you like, since I’ll be at your complete disposal.

You’ll be supporting high-quality, more sustainable tourism in Seville, while also ensuring that your guide has the historical knowledge needed to lead the tour.

What you’ll do

  • We’ll begin by setting the historical context and explaining Seville’s origins as a port city throughout history. You’ll discover why this city, and no other, was chosen as the only port with the New World.
  • We will tour the main monuments related to the Spanish territorres in the Americas, recounting their history and significance during that era, and exploring the role they played in these connections with the Americas.
  • Throughout the tour, you will also explore other lesser-known areas that often go unnoticed but were of vital importance to nautical science and the organization of the complex system of navigation between continents.
