Discover Seville’s defensive tower
One of Seville’s most photographed landmarks, designated a Site of Cultural Interest and part of Spain’s Historical Heritage, with a naval museum inside.
Why take this tour?
Because it is one of Seville’s landmarks and a testament to its connection with the river. The city cannot be understood without the Guadalquivir, nor the river without the Torre del Oro.
Because it is worth learning about the history of this Muslim tower, its many functions, and its importance to the city—it was the tower that held back the Christian troops and served as the gateway to the Port of the Indies.
Because it houses an interesting museum, the only one in the city that highlights Seville’s naval significance.
Why take this tour with me?

You’ll be supporting high-quality, more sustainable tourism in Seville, while also ensuring that your guide has the historical knowledge needed to lead the tour.

What you’ll do
- First, you’ll get to know the tower by learning about its origins, its history, and the major events it has witnessed, as well as the reason behind its name. And no, the gold from the Americas wasn’t stored here.
- Inside, you’ll explore the tower’s history and its close connection to the development of Seville through an intriguing museum that makes use of its distinctive 12 sides.
- Next, we’ll explore the naval museum. Even though you won’t find any original artifacts there, don’t let that discourage you. Seville’s naval history is largely unknown but very interesting. There’s a lot to learn and discover.
- We couldn’t end the tour without a grand finale. From the rooftop, you’ll enjoy a spectacular view of Seville and the river, taking in other landmarks such as the Torre de la Plata, the sister tower of the Torre del Oro.
