The story of an incredible journey
Visit the Nao Victoria 500 and the Exploraterra exhibit in Seville
Why take this tour?
Because it’s the perfect opportunity to learn everything there is to know about the Spice Fleet and give it the recognition it deserves. The first circumnavigation of the globe marked a turning point in human history. And no, the main goal was never simply to sail around the world.
Because it’s the only replica of a 16th-century nao, where you’ll discover what life was like on one of those “floating prisons” they called ships. You’ll be surprised by just how small they were, and you’ll learn what those instruments were used for—and where they relieved themselves. By the way, did you know they didn’t sleep in hammocks?
Because it’s a unique tour—different from the usual major monuments—that’s enjoyable and suitable for all ages. And yet, it’s still fascinating. The story of the Spice Fleet’s voyage is a thrilling adventure you won’t want to miss.
Why take this tour with me?
Because you’ll be accompanied by a guide who specializes in the history of the Americas and navigation. You’ll learn far more than just the standard explanations, debunk common myths, and enjoy a much more comprehensive experience.
Unlike large group tours, you’ll have a professional guide all to yourself. It will be a more personalized tour, and you’ll be able to ask as many questions as you like, since I’ll be at your complete disposal.
You’ll be supporting high-quality, more sustainable tourism in Seville, while also ensuring that your guide has the historical knowledge needed to lead the tour.

What you’ll do
- We’ll start by visiting its visitor center, Exploraterra, where our ship will tell us the story of its life—from its construction to its final days—weaving in the events that made this incredible journey possible. Here we’ll meet its crew members, key figures, the people who organized the expedition, and view preserved documents—and you’ll even be able to touch the wood used in its construction! You’ll also learn how the ship and its crew’s feat changed the world, a task that seemed impossible in their time.
- It will be time to board the ship, the most advanced technology of its time. On its decks, you’ll discover what daily life was like for those men as you explore each of its rooms. This small space was the workplace, living area, and leisure space for men who risked their lives there. By learning about the different parts of the ship, we’ll gain insight into their living conditions and be transported, for a time, back 500 years.
