Seville, the port to the Americas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After the Columbus’ discovery and the incorporation of the American territories, Seville turned into the \u2018door and port\u2019 of the New World. Only Seville held the monopoly on the relationship with America, trade as much as human. Only from here could the boats set sail with the goods and the passengers heading towards the New World, and only here could they disembark after their journey with exotic products, specially with gold and silver.\u00a0And money calls money.\u00a0Just like what has happened in any other capital of the world, Seville started to receive people coming from other places.\u00a0Merchants, investors, intellectuals and artists came in and Seville became the artistic and financial capital of the known world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to do this section to make this period of history of Seville more well-known and how much it meant to the city.\u00a0To do this, I can think of no better occasion than the commemoration of the First Circumnavigation of the Earth by Magellan \u2013 Elcano.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, this contribution is part of the celebration of the 500th year of the First Round Trip of the World.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
